Though desktop memory does actually affects a computers speed directly, there can be plenty of other reasons for a computer’s slow speed. People usually regret their purchase once they find out that even maximizing the desktop memory did not help the computer much.

A basic understanding about the systems memory is hereby crucial so that any unneeded expense in buying a desktop memory could be avoided. Essentially, here are two different kinds of memories RAM, random access memory and a ROM, Read only memory.

The Random Access memory or the RAM is almost as important for a computer as a processor. It functions very much like and in sync with the computer’s processor. Consisting of small cells according to its storage size, a RAM is used to temporarily store data so that it can be computed and processed by the processor.

Very much like a micro processor, A RAM is composed of small cells, each cell being capable to remember a bit of data. A RAM containing 1 GB or memory space would thereby be able to store around 1 GB of space at any given time. Though no information stays In a Ram for long, data is constantly being stored and deleted in a RAM in order to help the computer function.

A ROM or read only memory is used by the computer for the task of a warehouse. This is where a computer hosts information almost permanently. Once information is stored on a read only memory, it stays there indefinitely albeit some accident causing data loss. What most people don’t know, information from a ROM is never actually removed permanently, only the directories pointing to that information are, the actual data is still out there somewhere. You can only have data permanently erased by taking the ROM to a professional.

A ROM is used to store data permanently, though accidents may cause some unconventional data loss. Data is never actually removed from a computer’s ROM, though directories pertaining to it may be removed, the data remains there hence the ability for a data recovery tool to effectively recover all that data.
