There are a number of advantages to accessories made with alpaca fiber.

If you are not sure where alpaca fibers come from, they are harvested from alpacas. These interesting creatures are very similar to the llama, a pack animal used in South America. Alpacas are smaller than llamas and their soft, silky fleece makes them more valuable as sources of wool than they are as beasts of burden. The most valuable alpaca fleece items still come from wool which has been harvested from South American alpacas. They live in herds and tend to be more even tempered than llamas although on occasion they do bite or kick. They can spit but this is generally reserved for other herd mates than it is for people.
